    Unique Mexican Food

    Monterrey is known for its cabrito, which is the marriage of a Mexican and Jewish style of food. Cabrito is a kid goat made over embers and served with bread without yeast. Despite not having a Jewish community anymore (nowadays dominated by Roman Catholics), the combination of Mexican and Jewish food remains strong.Ā

    There are plenty of things to do inĀ Monterrey. It is the capital ofĀ Nuevo LeonĀ state in Mexico is rich in history and culture. It is the most modern and ā€œAmericanizedā€ city in all of Mexico. There are plenty of things to do in Monterrey, below are the top 5.

    SANTA LUCIA RIVERWALK

    Santa Lucia Riverwalk, an artificial river built between 1996 and 2007. It currently joins the Macroplaza with the Fundidora Park. This reminds me of the riverwalk we saw in Providence, Rhode Island.

    FARO DEL COMERCIO

    Faro del ComercioĀ (Lighthouse of Commerce), another trademark of the city. This monuments beams a green laser around the city at night.

    PUENTE DE LA UNIDAD

    Puente de la UnidadĀ (sometimes calledĀ Puente Atirantado) is a suspension bridge that crosses theĀ RĆ­o Santa CatarinaĀ and joinsĀ San Pedro Garza GarcĆ­aĀ with Monterrey.

    COLA DE CABALLO

    Cola de CaballoĀ (Spanish for ā€œHorse Tailā€) is a waterfall about 40km (25mi) fromĀ Monterrey, Mexico, in the town of Villa de Santiago, Nuevo LeĆ³n. It is open to the public and is accessible via a walking path.

    GRUTAS DE GARCIA

    Grutas de GarciaĀ ā€“ an extensive (2km?) cave system located northwest in the Villa de Garcia. A scenic ā€œchair-liftā€ vehicle lifts visitors to the cavesā€™ entrance hundreds of feet above, on the hill slope.

    One of the most populated cities in the Republic of Mexico, this tremendous modern city continues to grow and expand. The government is strict with law enforcement. The city is environmentally conscientious, and the people are generous. The vibe throughout the town is high energy, love, and fun. The things to do in Monterrey listed above are great examples of popular spots. But donā€™t let that stop you from further exploring this marvelous city.

    For the football (soccer) fan, the city provides two professional teams, both of which play inside of the Mexican league. The C.F. Monterrey and the Tigres UANL are two different teams that call the city home. The Tigres play at the local Estadio Universitario (University) while C.F. Monterrey plays at its own facility.Ā 

    While football is a passionate sport in Mexico baseball is the most popular sport here. So, if you are into baseball, the Sultanes de Monterrey is part of the Mexican Baseball League. As such, the Mexican Baseball League is a AAA team with potential professional talent on display.
