Bringing Pets to Mexico

City in Mexico

Driving Mexico is different in 2022 than it was in 1968 when I took my first driving trip. It is easier. But there are still rules and customs that first-time drivers need to know. Thatā€™s where I come in. I can help you enjoy your trip and avoid mistakes that could give you a bad experience. I wonā€™t scare you with dire warnings.Ā  The information on these pages will help you have a better trip and yes, suggest ā€œsafeā€ routes, but donā€™t approach your journey with fear.

Off-Roading

To be honest, most people are amazed at how friendly and helpful the Mexican people are and how prosperous the country is.Ā  So leave your preconceptions at home, take my advice and have a wonderful trip.

Iā€™ve been running the roads of Mexico since the 1960s. Iā€™ve helped hundreds of travelers and tourists plan roadtrips to Mexico and Guatemala. Let me help you plan the roadtrip of a lifetime or just a driving trip to get you from point A to point B without a lot of fuss.Ā

My maps and road logs have mileages, drive times, features like waterfalls,Ā thermal springs, hotels,Ā RV parksĀ and highway elevations. Theyā€™ll make your trip to Mexico as interesting as you want it to be.Ā

If you want more, a customized trip plan focusing onĀ yourĀ interests:

  • Fastest, safest way to get there, or the most scenic way to getĀ there.
  • BUT, if youā€™re like me and think,Ā Gee, I donā€™t know whereĀ thereĀ is until I get there,Ā keep reading.
  • Where are theĀ pet-friendly hotels?
  • What hotels haveĀ safe parking?

Plan a Roadtrip to Mexico ā€“ Today!

Most people who ask me to plan a trip for them are not seeking scenic routes. They want the straight-line, ā€œsafestā€ route to the home or condo theyā€™ve bought. Since straight lines in Mexico are deceptive and ā€œsafestā€ varies from week to week, they consider it worthwhile to pay me to guide them.

Show me the scenic wonders of Mexico.

Driving Mexicoā€™sĀ scenic routes can be a most rewarding experience ā€“ the trip of a lifetime. There are so many choices that itā€™s overwhelming to plan a scenic driving road trip to Mexico. What do you want to see?Ā  Waterfalls? Hot Springs? Mountains? Culture? Food? Archeology? Birding? Based on my extensive knowledge of mainland Mexico. Ā Read my bioĀ to see why I have such a good reputation for knowing Mexico.

However, if you would like someone to talk to about what driving routes to take (even if you are just driving Mexico from Point A to B) and general information, I can help. In Mexico, there is seldom only one way to go from A to B. In fact, the driving routes that are the most obvious on maps are not always the ones you want to drive. For instance, I highly recommend avoiding Tampico and taking the obvious highway route down the Gulf Coast. But you would not know why just by looking at a map, even mine. Oh, and driving times? Forget what you see on the Internet.Ā Driving is much different than in the USA.
