CAMPING IN SAN FELIPE

San Felipe

San Felipe is located on the Sea of Cortez in northern Mexico in the state of Baja California.  Its biggest industries are fishing and tourism.  Just under 120 miles from the U.S. border, San Felipe is also a convenient destination that draws many vacationers.  People flock to San Felipe’s beaches to enjoy water sports like scuba, snorkeling, and jet skiing, but camping on the beach is one of the best ways to get immersed in the beauty of the landscape.  Vibrant clubs, cafes, and restaurants are situated in close proximity to the beaches of the region.  Off-roading is also a popular activity along the coast.

Camping San Felipe

San Felipe is home to many RV parks and campgrounds.  With more than 250,000 visitors heading its way each year, it has plenty of accommodations to suit all types of vacationers.  Many campers, on the other hand, prefer to fall asleep right on the beach to the sounds of the surf and sea breeze.  Of course, be sure to set up your camp at high tide; the area is known for its drastic tidal changes and you don’t want to pitch your tent too close to the sea’s edge

Often, beachside campers come prepared with small cook stoves to prepare their catches for each evening meal.  Other ingredients can easily be purchased around San Felipe and the pleasure of a fresh seaside meal is unsurpassed.

San Felipe is especially crowded during the spring break season.  If you love the vibrant atmosphere of this time, San Felipe is truly alive with fun and people mingling everywhere.  On the other hand, if you want a more serene holiday, come between November and April when temperatures are ideal for camping—sunny and warm during the day and comfortably cool in the evening.  Although you can camp all over the beaches, look for areas with palm shelters and water taps that are maintained especially for beach campers.
