Visit Freedom ShoresAn Accessible Mexico Travel Experience Unlike Any Other
Freedom Shores at Isla Aguada was originally designed and built by Bill Bussear, a United States Marine who became quadriplegic after a diving accident on his way to Vietnam. His dream was to create a truly accessible hotel and RV park in Mexico where travelers with mobility challenges could comfortably experience adventure, independence, and the beauty of coastal Mexico.
Today, Freedom Shores remains one of the most accessible RV and hotel properties in Mexico. The large rooms, ADA-style showers, ramps, and easy-to-navigate grounds make it ideal for travelers with disabilities, aging RV travelers, and anyone seeking a more relaxed travel experience.
Why Travelers Love Isla Aguada
Quiet Gulf Coast Beaches
Isla Aguada sits along the Gulf of Mexico near Campeche and remains largely overlooked compared to Cancun and the Riviera Maya. That means fewer tourists, quieter beaches, and a more authentic atmosphere.
Dolphins, Flamingos & Birding
Local boats offer dolphin tours, birdwatching, and fishing excursions through the surrounding lagoons and coastal waters. Flamingos and migratory shorebirds are commonly spotted nearby.
Fresh Gulf Seafood
The seafood at Freedom Shores is legendary among RV travelers. Stone crabs, seafood platters, Gulf fish, shrimp, and regional specialties are highlights of the experience.
Seafood Worth Driving Across Mexico For
The beachside restaurant at Freedom Shores is one of the hidden culinary gems of Campeche. Massive seafood platters, Gulf shrimp, stone crab claws, grilled fish, ceviche, and regional seafood dishes are prepared fresh daily.
Many travelers are surprised to learn that some of the stone crabs commonly associated with Florida actually originate from the Gulf waters off Campeche.
The combination of oceanfront dining, fresh seafood, warm hospitality, and sunsets over the Gulf creates the kind of travel memory RV travelers never forget.
